OBaI

AI research desk for growing, backtesting, and investing.

About

Retail investors do not have an information problem. They have a research bottleneck.

Markets move through news, fundamentals, technicals, options flow, macro signals, sentiment, and risk. Wall Street research desks handle this with teams of specialists: a fundamentals analyst, a technical analyst, an options strategist, a quant, a screener, a risk analyst, and portfolio researchers who know how to connect the dots.

Most individual investors are left stitching that workflow together manually across charts, news feeds, spreadsheets, screeners, broker dashboards, and disconnected AI chats.

OBaI is an open-source, self-hosted AI research desk for retail investors.

It runs locally on your machine and coordinates eight specialist agents that can work together on market research, company analysis, strategy development, screening, backtesting, and trading workflows. You ask one plain-English question from the CLI. The Central Hub understands the request, chooses the right specialists, runs them in parallel, and merges the results into one coordinated answer.

You can ask OBaI to compare two companies across fundamentals and technicals, screen for dividend stocks, analyze a trading idea, backtest a strategy, review market conditions, or evaluate a portfolio thesis. Instead of jumping between tools, you describe what you want to know and let the agent system assemble the research.

The Web UI shows the agents working live, so the process is visible instead of hidden behind a black box. You can see which specialists are called, how the work is being split, and how the final answer is formed.

OBaI is built to be local-first and composable. It includes a CLI for direct use, plus skills that can be connected to other agent systems such as Fermix, OpenClaw, or other personal AI assistants. This lets OBaI act as the financial research and trading intelligence layer inside a larger agent workflow.

OBaI can also connect with trading platforms and broker APIs such as Alpaca, where configured by the user. That makes it possible to move from research into strategy creation, backtesting, paper trading, and automated trading workflows under user-defined rules.

The goal is not to replace judgment. The goal is to give individual investors the structure of a research desk: multiple specialists, real-time data access, repeatable strategy testing, and a single interface for asking better market questions.

OBaI is open-source. Self-hosted. Local-first. Your data stays on your machine except for the market data, model, and broker API calls you choose to configure.

One prompt. Multiple specialists. One coordinated market answer.

Excited to launch OBaI. I built it for anyone who wants to understand markets better, test ideas faster, and invest with more structure using their own AI research desk.
